Current tumultuous times with seemingly endless perilous events have caused increased discussion in the international public forum about peace, safety and security. While leaders’ motivations and ability to deliver stability remains highly questionable in the eyes of many, it is helpful to remember that it is only our sovereign God who can deliver true peace for a world in chaos. He says:
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. (Is. 45:7)
There is good reason why we are assured several times in scripture that God calms tumultuous waters in the ongoing spiritual kingdom war. Where the term ‘sea’ is used symbolically to represent nations and peoples who as the “raging heathen” align against each other as well as God’s saints and Jesus himself, it is fitting that we are told that God “rebukes” this sea. Recall Jesus himself calmed the sea of Galilee for his panicked disciples in the midst of the storm. We are told about him:
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. (Ps. 89:9)
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. (Ps. 107:28)
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people. (Ps. 65:7)
A couple of these verses are specifically for God’s people Israel; however, Gentile Christ-believers will need the same relief from a common adversary in the last days whose only mission is complete destruction of God’s creation. Soon, the “flood of Egypt,” a different kind of flood, representing a worldwide scourge will cover the entire earth. Jesus remarked about this, “For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth” (Lk. 21:35).
Many in a last days deceived house of Israel that doesn’t know their Messiah, one who provides peace that “surpasses all understanding,” will seek him quickly for a similar “parting of the waters” as he did for them in ancient times. A Christ-believing church that is lukewarm at best or apostate at worst will finally understand that divided loyalties will not suffice in a last days world where the adversary will force a decision one way or another. The church may recall Elijah’s words to his kingdom’s leaders, “How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him…” (1 Ki. 18:21). They may also take into account the meaning of Jesus’ words who instructed us to obey his commands with all of our hearts, minds, soul and strength.
Recall that Jesus implied there would be little existing faith in the end times when he remarked, “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Lk. 18:8). In this passage I discuss prospects and potential for a time period of peace that will allow for people to gain faith through Light and Truth that is revealed and so that they can return to the Lord versus relying on the lies of the adversary. I address possible peace according to the following sections:
- Signs of temporary peace
- Signs of temporary peace prior to conflict through ‘Jacob’s anointed remnant
- False peace among those in the house of Israel
- Final and lasting peace for Israel and the nations
In these sections below I will describe the intermittent and temporary peace that may exist in the midst of much turmoil and chaos until true peace finally comes in the Lord’s Kingdom.
Signs of temporary peace
For one who believes that we are living in biblical end times, it is hard to imagine that the world’s geopolitical environment and its corrupt ruling powers will improve so that peace can actually prevail on a wide scale. However, we must take into account several places in scripture that suggest there will at least be an appearance of peace, or perhaps peace among some.
To continue the theme of calming strong waters discussed above, I believe Jesus may have provided a hint when he said that a “wicked” generation will not be given a sign except for the sign of Jonas (Jonah) the prophet. Recall that when Jonah was throne overboard then the sea became calm and he was “hidden,” so to speak, in the belly of a large fish for three days. Jesus’ words appear to be a prophecy for a future Son of man who is “hidden in the heart of the earth” (for three days and three nights) that is separate from Jesus’ other prophecy that he would rise again on the third day after his own crucifixion. Jesus spoke several times about a future Son of man about whom he said will “come in his own glory” (Lk. 9:26).
Our last days “wicked” generation that operates within a matrix system is one that identifies and “numbers” people. Within this, it watches, tracks and takes God’s people captive. Minions who support this system are the ones for whom God holds his wrath because they mockingly “hold truth in unrighteousness” (Rom. 1:18) and change “the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man” (Rom. 1:23). They “see” and have some knowledge with the help of their surveillance apparatus, albeit this is knowledge that they twist and distort. Others who don’t share their oaths are kept in the dark due to their wicked gang’s control of societies’ institutions and their propaganda machine that purveys strong deception, numerous lies and multiple distractions.
I have described on this site and in my books Biblical End Times, Volumes 1 and 2, that the end times Son of Man/Comforter living as the Holy Spirit in person could be the ‘Restrainer’ who will be “taken out of the way.” He may also be the bridegroom for an end times wedding signaling the infant beginnings of God’s new Kingdom. Even if he is hidden, removed from the matrix, or taking a “far journey,” the current “wicked” generation will generally remain aware of his presence. At the same time, world rulers will not speak to this fact. Instead, they will continue to reign with heavy-handed oppression while they and their minion-“mob” army mock Jesus’ Holy Spirit and anointed remnant.
Yet rulers will likely also portray “peace” at this time the Lord’s Spirit hides his face. A kind of counterfeit sense of peace that is incorporated into their ongoing occult narrative that controls pop-culture, especially in ‘Babylon’-U.S., will perpetuate a feeling of status quo while life goes on as usual. Thus, there will continue to be a “buying and selling, marrying and giving in marriage,” etc. that Jesus warned would be the case prior to the “flood” bringing destruction that I mentioned above. Jesus likened this time period when the wicked will be swept away as to the days of Noah and Lot.
Those who are not bound by oaths and pledges to the adversary will eventually get a chance for Light and Truth. Related to the wedding above we are told that the “poor” will trust that the Lord has “founded” (the Daughter of) Zion. Meanwhile, they are instructed to watch and keep their lamps burning for the Son of Man’s return from this wedding or his journey. Jesus was clear that no one will know the day or the hour when he will come. He also instructed through Luke for us to be “counted worthy” to escape and to be able to stand before the Son of Man. Faithful believers who watch and escape will find the narrow way in order to be “hidden” in the Day of the Lord.
Otherwise, for the wicked, any ‘peace’ that they will celebrate will be a temporary, false peace. Before God allows these who deny Jesus Christ and end times truth to be “turned over” to a drunken spirit and turns their own system against them, there could be one final time period that allows them a chance to repent and seek the Lord’s salvation. Here we should keep in mind that God’s will is that none should perish and that all might come to the truth. The Apostle Paul described Christ’s goodness, forbearance and longsuffering as leading to repentance. About his longsuffering specifically, we are told:
What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction. (Rom. 9:22)
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (1 Pet. 3:20)
Perhaps the calming of the inhabitants of last days ‘Babylon’ will take place at the time we are told that the Lord of hosts, the “Redeemer,” “shall throughly plead (his people’s) cause, that he may give rest to the land” (Jer. 50:34). This could coincide with the time around or including the sign of Jonah above. Other signals for at least a temporary pause or relief from chaos and lawlessness could include the last days emergence of an ‘Elijah’-type about whom Jesus spoke of who will come and “restore all things.” Perhaps this is ‘Elijah’ spoken about through the Prophet Malachi who wrote that prior to the “great and dreadful” Day of the Lord he will turn the “heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers” (Mal. 4:6). Nevertheless, like ancient Elijah’s warning mentioned above to choose one Kingdom to serve- that is, either Jesus Christ’s coming Kingdom or the adversary’s- this kind of ultimatum that will be given again is consistent with the latter part of Jonah’s story and what we know was him conveying God’s final warning to the people of ancient Nineveh.
Also, perhaps lessons of Elijah’s ancient successor, Elisha, who followed immediately after him will apply again. Elisha was a healing prophet who upon re-entering the land proclaimed, “I have healed these waters.” He performed both symbolic and literal healing acts including one for Naaman, the Syrian army captain. Elisha also staved off one battle between Syria and Israel’s northern kingdom with a lesson learned being that fighting on both sides was senseless in the environment of blindness on both sides due to bondage or idolatry.
Signs of temporary peace prior to conflict through ‘Jacob’s anointed remnant
In continuing with Elisha’s story, in his final act before he died he instructed the King of Israel to take a bow and arrows and to shoot east, symbolically representing a coming judgment for the rebellious northern kingdom. Hebrew meaning found in the word “arrow” here is related to a weapon that causes a wounding (ref. Strong’s Concordance, Biblehub.com). While the ancient, corrupt northern kingdom was eventually defeated and carried into exile by Assyria, it appears that this action may have been a foreshadowing for the last days. The direction of ‘east’ here might be a sign corroborating other scripture that describes ‘Jacob’s Judah-centric remnant’s resistance or an “east wind” of judgment, including in Israel’s last days ‘northern kingdom’ that resides within Babylon. While their remnant resists with the “plumbline” of righteousness we know that the “wound” of last days ‘Jacob’ and ‘Judah’ is “incurable” and apparently causes division that cannot be healed, or else a condition in society for which there is not a solution; it is possible that this is related to a technology-driven matrix system. Interestingly, ‘Jacob’ is referred to as an “arrow” in God’s quiver (Is. 49:2) with the same meaning (i.e. a weapon for warfare) as in Elisha’s ancient instructions above.
‘Jacob’s and the anointed remnant’s resistance in the last days kingdom war might also remind one of the rider on the white horse at the first seal in the book of Revelation, Chapter 6, who carries a “bow” and comes to conquer, apparently in a somewhat peaceful, behind-the-scenes manner. (Opinions differ as to the identity of this rider). It is possible their remnant are the ones led by the “spirit” of the black and white horses spoken by the Prophet Zechariah, Chapter 6, who “quiet” God’s spirit in the “north country.” However, neither the apparent peace provided by the rider on the white horse in the first seal nor the quieting of God’s spirit by the other horses represent a final peace; in fact, the ‘peace’ these signal is only temporary prior to judgment that follows. At the opening of the next seal in Revelation, Chapter 6, the rider on the red horse is given a “great sword” and comes to “take peace from the earth.”
In a bit of good news, additional Greek meaning in the term “bow” that the rider carries in the first seal indicates a kind of bringing forth, travailing in birthing or a deliverance. (ref. Strong’s Concordance, Biblehub.com). I have described in detail on this site and in my books, Biblical End Times, Volumes 1 and 2, the initial deliverance out of the Day of the Lord for Israel’s anointed remnant. ‘Jacob’ and the last days anointed remnant will be delivered out of the time of “Jacob’s trouble”- a time described as, “a day (that) is great, so that none is like it” (Jer. 30:7).
‘Jacob’s remnant’s deliverance will be a result of their resistance and fighting back against persecution in a land to the north in the last days, likely ‘Babylon’-U.S. The Lord promises ‘Jacob’ that his remnant’s strength will be renewed and that, “They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Is. 40:31). Their “small flock” will be delivered out of the “flood” that is the flood of Egypt and ‘Babylon’s matrix system as I referred to above. They will be quickly reminded of the following from the Psalms, “The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever” (Ps. 29:10).
Those who are finally awakened and have “eyes to see” and “ears to hear” in the last days will trust (and eventually get to witness) the Lord’s Holy Spirit and his anointed remnant as peacemakers, watchmen and messengers who are examples for repentance and desiring peace in a world full of constant strife and conflict. As a small remnant and “mustard seed” they will eventually be an important vessel for healing the house of David and the larger house of Israel, the latter which I will discuss below. I have previously described how they will go on to yield fruit for the Kingdom that is consistent with, “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” (James 3:18). This remnant’s members including ‘Jacob,’ ‘David,’ and the ‘Daughter of Zion’ will be examples of faith in Jesus Christ and convince others of him as the only way to “come out of” bondage and to “flee” or escape from Babylon’s idolatrous matrix.
Any who are children of the light through the Holy Spirit and maintain faith and righteousness will have the opportunity to recognize the narrow way out of our kingdom that is held in bondage. Until then, these will continue to “walk by faith and not by sight,” or as those Jesus referred to, “blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (Jn. 20:29). And at some point Jesus’ Light will shine so that they will be able to see while the minion-“mob” that was previously aware will be made blind. Recall that Jesus said, “For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind” (Jn. 9:39). About this time of the end forecasted through Isaiah we are told, “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped” (Is. 35:5).
False peace among those in the house of Israel
Even before God’s wrath comes on at the sixth seal in the book of Revelation, he will be dealing with his people Israel and will use the spiritual kingdom adversary to discipline and wake them up in a “purging” and “refining” process. Likely in the time period described above the larger house of Israel will be among those blinded and deceived by declarations of peace by the anti-Christ adversary. Perhaps they will even be led to believe that their (false) Messiah has arrived.
In fact, there is much in scripture that points to Israel’s own false prophets, false teachers and blind watchmen in the last days. Jesus pointed to many antichrists that will exist. God says that these of Israel “prophesy lies in my name” and that they “prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart” (Jer. 14:14). Many of these envision ‘peace’ in the midst of their rebellion and give their flocks false hope in the midst of a corrupt society. This is clear in the following verses:
Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord God. (Ez. 13:10,16)
Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. (Mic. 3:5)
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. (Jer. 23:16-17)
Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed. (Jer. 14:15)
Speaking of the “sword” and “famine” in the last verse above, events at the time of the “beginning of sorrows (travails)” that Jesus forecasted will cause leaders to attempt to reassure the world’s citizens that they are in control and can solve these challenges. Wars and rumors of war, famine, and pestilence are among those events that will create highly uncertain and challenging geopolitical conditions and the kind of social unrest that we are already witnessing. I have described previously on this site and in detail in my books, Biblical End Times, Volumes 1 and 2, that both ‘Israel’-centric countries, the U.S. and Israel, will experience a kind of internal unraveling that occurs even prior to the Day of the Lord. These kinds of conditions that continue to grow worse worldwide at this time Jesus foretold is still “not yet the end” will cause leaders to rally the nations to come together and attempt to achieve peace and stability for all.
Meanwhile, as it relates to wars specifically, it is easy to assume that there will be ongoing conflict involving Israel and others in the Middle East region. Due to a need to claim peace and security, in a very general and practical sense it is not too difficult to see how a peace plan will come about between Israel and its Middle east neighbors in the midst of current circumstances. Both the U.S.’s and Israel’s leaders who are involved will soon have a strong incentive for declaring ‘peace’ because of aforementioned internal problems in addition to external conflict with adversaries that will particularly affect them.
At the same time, scripture appears to indicate that the house of Israel’s last days corrupt leaders and ‘Babylon’s “treacherous dealer,” along with their accomplices, will be set up to fall by their adversaries. This will culminate at the time they are “caught” in a false peace process that reveals their iniquities. The following verses including the first one by the Apostle Paul show a sudden event that will occur at the time that ‘peace’ is initially declared:
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (1 Thess. 5:3)
And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the Lord, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder. (Jer. 4:9)
Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. (Is. 33:7)
The first verse referring to a travailing “woman with child” is a clue as to the nature of corruption that will be revealed that brings about the Day of the Lord according to the Apostle Paul’s words in First Thessalonians. This will likely be the travailing of Israel’s own last days Queen-Matriarch figure whose persecution will bring on God’s judgment. God says because of the “hurt” of the “daughter of his people” that, “I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me” (Jer. 8:21). He further observes, “They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace” (Jer. 6:14). The travailing woman at this time signals an imminent spiritual “birthing” to come that symbolizes deliverance for ‘Jacob’ and his anointed remnant discussed above.
There is a question as to whether the beginning of the Day of the Lord (that comes as a “thief in the night”) at the time of this failed peace event will coincide with the well-known seven-year (“one week”) covenant that will be established according to the Prophet Daniel (9:27). I believe that the shock and destruction that comes instead of peace could set off circumstances that will necessitate the Daniel-covenant as a separate event. Considering the timing and significance of the initial failed peace event, this may be a trigger for the aforementioned rider on the red horse along with additional conflicts and global disruptions.
Then, in the follow-up covenant referred to by the Prophet Daniel one who appears to be a great leader will “confirm” an agreement with many others; we might assume this will include ‘Israel’ again (possibly others than the ones who are caught in the failed deal). Here, additional meaning in the word “confirm” according to the Hebrew language (ref. Stong’s Concordance, Biblehub.com) suggests that this leader will prevail or conquer through strength, possibly to include what will be perceived to be a more robust peace effort than was put forth and attempted prior.
Regardless, while the Daniel-covenant will be done in a general context conveying a sense of finality and calm, we know that this will also be a deceptive peace all over again. While apparently allowing the building of a third temple along with sacrifices and offerings to resume, this leader may be the “Wicked” one in Second Thessalonians, Chapter 2, who serves Satan. He will work according to an evil spirit with “lying signs and wonders” and will eventually commit the “abomination of desolation” in the temple in the middle of the seven-year period. And it appears that even before this act he may be the one who shall cause “craft to prosper in his hand…(and) by peace shall destroy many” (Dan. 8:25). Additional scripture points to armies “compassing” Jerusalem as well as siege and destruction that will come upon the land of Israel at this time when the Gentiles of ‘Babylon’s Kingdom assert their power, invade the land, and finally “trample down” Jerusalem. Of course, in this final seven-year period at the end of the age there will be destruction worldwide. (You may want to refer to my series on this site entitled the Day of the Lord, Parts 1, 2 and 3).
Final and lasting peace for Israel and the nations
Prophetic scripture tells us that we are on a timeline for living in the current world as we know it. And if we are living at the end of the age, then the Lord’s coming heavenly Kingdom will look much different than the current world that is held in bondage by the destroying adversary. And amidst the non-stop conflict and fighting in the Day of the Lord we are told that the Lord will become “furious” with the nations’ armies and senseless warring. We are told further that he will, “maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire” (Ps. 46:9). At the end of a war-torn Day of the Lord, we are told:
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. (Is. 2:4)
I mentioned at the outset of this passage that it is only Jesus Christ himself who can deliver true peace and freedom, referred to by the Apostle Paul as, “having made peace through the blood of the cross” (Col. 1:20). In the Kingdom Jesus will finally be in our presence for this time of “refreshing” and “restitution of all things” (Acts 3:19,21). “All fullness” will dwell in the Lord when he reconciles all things to himself. He will be “exalted” in all of the earth and his dominion will be from “sea to sea.”
“All things” will include his reassembled house of Israel and all Gentile believers. About the former, we are told that the Lord will “speak peace unto his people” and will “comfort” them; about the Gentiles, we are told that, “he shall speak peace to the heathen.” In the coming Millennial Kingdom the land of 1,000 years will look much more like Eden and citizens will finally live in peace. For a regathered Israel, in particular, about this time they are finally back in the land they are promised to: “be secure in the land”; “live in safety”; and there will be “no more violence.” This is summed up in the words of the Lord as follows:
And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places… (Is. 32:18)
‘Zion’ will be a mother-figure to Israel’s anointed remnant that is comprised of spiritual “sons” and “daughters” who are a part of this “small flock.” I showed above their activities in the spiritual kingdom war in the end times will have been a key part of the light and truth that the Gentiles receive. Eventually, as a result of their battle, their remnant’s “seed” and offspring will be “known among the Gentiles.” They will assume leadership roles in the Kingdom. And we are told that ‘Jacob’s law will “go forth to the isles.” It is through ‘Jacob’ and his house that Gentiles will return:
For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. (Is. 14:1)
The ‘Daughter of Zion,’ will be the bride of the Lord and will be a Queen-Matriarch in the Kingdom. Zion will be a mother figure for all nations. As one the Lord “comforts” she is promised:
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. (Is. 66:12)
Upon the Gentiles’ return we are told that, “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day” (Zech. 2:11). Gentiles and their kings will come to Jerusalem to worship and bring gifts to the Lord. This will be at the time: “When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord” (Ps. 102:22). In this state of final peace, even Israel’s ancient enemies will be friendly neighbors. You might find it surprising, but we are told in his Word that the Lord will call Egypt “my people” and Assyria “my inheritance” at this time.
~
In a last days world that is travailing in bondage, it remains to be seen what any kind of ‘peace’ will look like. As we move forward, some form of calm could appear sporadically among certain peoples or in selected geographic areas. However, the overall worldwide trajectory as we move closer to the Day of the Lord is toward severe turmoil and strife. In the meantime, as Christ-believers, we should watch and strive to be “counted worthy” to stand before the Son of man or be among those Jesus described as the chosen few out of the many who are called. No true peace will exist until Jesus Christ returns.
Grace & Peace,
